Self-Introduction
Hello, my name is Alaena Aldridge. I am a freshman at MACC. I am also a student in Professor Todd's Composition II class. When Professor Todd told us that we would be working on this Genius Hour project I became very excited. Genius Hour is a project that allows each student to work on individual projects that we each want to learn more about. I really like the idea that every student can learn something that each of us are interested in. It is very hard for a teacher to plan projects that every student is interested in and willing to do. I really enjoy the fact that each of us will be able to do or own thing at our own pace. I am work better when I can go at my own pace and it is something that I enjoy doing, I think a lot of people work this way. I am very excited to complete this project with the help of Professor Todd.
For this Genius Hour project I will be learning and improving my skills as a painter. I will be trying new techniques. I will be using several new and different materials and methods such as, paint, paper, brushes, and techniques. I had always be very interested in art but I never seem to have the time to sit down and do it. This project will allow me to do something that I find to be very relaxing and fun. By the end of the Genius Hour I would like to see a significant improvement in my painting skills and hopefully have a new full time hobby.
In the first few weeks I will be working on the basics of painting. I will be working on drawing lines, using new colors, and creating shapes and designs. I will be figuring out which brushes, canvases, and colors I like using the best. I will be using YouTube videos and tutorials to learning which techniques others like best. Once I learn the basic of painting I will try to further my skills by trying new and harder paintings, and pushing my skill level to the max. By the time that we finish this project I hope to have several paintings and pictures to show how my skills have improved.
I am very nervous, yet super excited to take on this challenge. I think that my classmates and I will really enjoy doing our own projects. Stay tuned to see how my paintings and skills improve, as well as my classmates Genius Hour projects come to gather!
